Michael is an Ohio native and earned a BFA in Theater from Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, PA. joel-arbuckle

Joel Arbuckle

as

Benjamin “Benny” Coffin III

(double)

Joel started acting in church plays as a youngster, but opportunities were limited and singing and music became a greater focus for him throughout most of the years since. A man of many interests, Joel pulls most of them together with his primary passion: storytelling. Eager to tell stories in whatever media best help to engage the audience, Joel was excited to have a chance to join Viva, reviving at long last his interest in acting.

Sarah Beeson

as

Mark Cohen

Sarah Kelly Beeson moved to Seattle from Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She is extremely passionate about Storytelling through Violence. Sarah is an active member of the Society of American Fight Directors, having been recognized in seven of eight weapons.  She is a Shakespeare lover, an avid gamer, a musical theater geek, and a baker of delicious goodies.

will-dean

Will Dean

as

Marcello

Will Dean’s shameful secret is that he’d seen neither “Rent” nor “La Bohème” prior to rehearsing this show. Now he is enraptured by both. Will studies voice with the lovely Shawna Avinger and sings with The Esoterics.

Nicola Derbyshire

as

Joanne Jefferson

This is Nicola’s fourth production with Viva Vocalists, each one more exciting than the last! In addition to singing and acting with the group, she also assists with props, sets, and costumes. In her free time she is an aspiring writer and loves to bake, dress up in silly clothing, and play with her cat.

James Galbraith

as

Rodolfo

James is a classically trained singer and pianist. James has studied with Paul Pollei (piano) and Gail Dubinbaum (voice) over the years. James now works with Shawna Avinger and is excited to bring the classic role of Rodolfo to life in this unique production. While living in Arizona, he sang with the AZ Opera Chorus and Phoenix Symphony Chorus. He was last seen on stage in the Viva Vocalists production of Into the Woods where he played Cinderella’s step-brother Florince (Florinda).

antoine-germain

Antoine Germain

as

Tom Collins

Antoine is very thrilled to be able to portray the role of Tom Collins in one of his all-time favorite musicals: RENT. Antoine is a singer/actor, dancer, voiceover artist and has performed in numerous productions throughout the Greater Seattle Area. He is extensively trained in classical and contemporary styles of singing (he loves to belt!) He was recently involved in the highly acclaimed rendition of Jesus Christ Superstarwith Seattle Musical Theatre and it’s stellar directorial and production team. A few of his other favorite roles include: Don Kerr (A Chorus Line), Poole (Jekyll and Hyde), Avram (Fiddler on the Roof), Timothy McGee (Little Johnny Jones). He would one day like to teach voice and direct/produce musical productions. He will be returning to college at the dawn of the new year to further his education to enable him to achieve that desire while continuing to pursue his performing endeavors. “Viva, La Vie Boheme!” Enjoy!

michelle-solangelMichelle Solangel Martínez

as

Mimi Márquez

(double)

Michelle has done many shows with Viva Vocalists since its inception in 2008. Her favorite Viva Vocalists role is still Enjolras in the modern-day version of Les Misérables done in 2014, but Mimi is definitely a dream role! She credits Viva Vocalists and Shawna Avinger for her growth as an actor and singer. If not for this class, she would never have had the courage to begin participating in shows in the Seattle theater community. Her recent credits include Twelfth Night Productions’ Godspell in February 2015 and Shoreline Community College’s Avenue Q in October 2015.

Janessa studied theater at Cornish College of the Arts some odd years ago, later deciding that performance better served her as a hobby and ongoing learning opportunity.  She was part of the first installation of Viva Vocalists and has been performing on and off with the group for several years.  Thanks to the Viva crew for offering a continuous challenge and fun atmosphere!
